Webster man accused of sexual battery

A Webster man faces one count of sexual battery after authorities say he abused a 7-year-old girl in Hernando County. Clayton Russell Fritts, 40, of 33092 Easter Drive in Webster was arrested after he told investigators that he instructed the girl to perform acts on him, a Hernando County sheriff's report said. He remained in the Hernando County Jail on Wednesday without bond.

Man gets probation for attack with bat

A man who hit three men with a baseball bat has been sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to battery and two counts of assault.

Eric Turnbull, 20, of Newark, Del. was staying with his uncle, a Hernando County sheriff's deputy, in March when he got into an argument with three young men and attacked them, a report said.

Circuit Judge Jack Springstead also ordered Turnbull to pay one of his victims $11,000 in restitution.
