SYKES SELLS UNIT: Sykes Enterprises Inc. of Tampa sold the assets of a small, 100-person division to SDL International of Great Britain for an undisclosed amount of cash. The division, which translates software and Web sites into other languages, had offices in Boulder, Colo.; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Lueven, Belgium.
CONTINENTAL RAISES REFUND FEE: Continental Airlines has unilaterally raised the fee passengers must pay to make changes on non-refundable advance-fare tickets to $100, up from $75. The adjustment went into effect Friday. Other carriers were studying the rate change as of Tuesday.
MICROSOFT SITES OFFLINE: Microsoft Corp. said many of its Internet sites, including Microsoft.com, MSN.com and Expedia.com, have been inaccessible to the public for several hours because of a breakdown in the system that directs its Web traffic. The company said it was working to resolve what it called "temporary problems" that began late Tuesday night.
TREASURY AUCTION: Yields on two-year Treasury notes fell in Wednesday's auction. The yield was 4.760 percent, down from 5.130 percent at the last auction Dec. 27. The notes will carry a coupon interest rate of 43/4 percent. A total of $10-billion in notes were sold out of bids totaling $26.4-billion.
