You are cordially uninvited
Here's a twist on the standard ploy of studios hiding bad movies from critics to avoid negative review: New Line Cinema set up a screening of Sugar and Spice this week and invited Tampa Bay film critics to attend. Then, another e-mail was sent to retract that invitation. Therefore, an RSVP takes on an entirely new meaning: "Really Stinks? Very Possible." Sugar and Spice looks lousy in preview trailers. Yet another high school cheerleading squad getting in trouble, this time by robbing banks to support a member's illegitimate baby. Nice theme for a PG-13 comedy aimed at teenagers, but that's another story. Mena Suvari, who shook her pompoms for Kevin Spacey in American Beauty, stars as the gang's ding-a-ling ringleader.
