Dance lessons offered at Activity Center

BROOKSVILLE -- The Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department offers country dance lessons, Community Activity Center, 205 E Fort Dade Ave., on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $5 per two-hour class, ages 4 and up. To register, call 754-4031.

Valentine dinner is fundraiser for post

AMVETS Post 28 will have its first Valentine's Dinner-Dance on Feb. 16 at Bouma Hall, 1202 Kenlake Ave., Spring Hill. A buffet dinner will be served from 4-6 p.m. with country-western music from 6-10 p.m. The menu features turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and iced tea; or ham, sweet potatoes, corn, dessert and coffee. The public is invited, and tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. All proceeds go toward the purchase of the new post. Seminar focuses on children of divorce

SPRING HILL -- The Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department offers a four-hour Children of Divorce Seminar at the Hernando Counseling Center, 12128 Cortez Blvd., from 6-10 p.m. March 6, April 3, May 1 and June 5. Acting class offered at government center

SPRING HILL -- The Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department offers a beginner acting-drama class for children ages 8-17 at the Forest Oaks Government Center, 7449 Forest Oaks Blvd, from 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays. Boy Scouts to host barbecue fundraiser

BROOKSVILLE -- Boy Scout Troop 440 will hold a barbecue fundraiser Feb. 3 at Spring Lake Community Center on Spring Lake Highway east of Brooksville. Meals will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Facilities will be available for eat-in and take-out orders. The menu will include a variety of meals and sandwiches.

Proceeds will benefit Troop 440 events. For more information, call Mary Verner at 796-8416.

Embroiderers' artwork to be displayed

The Embroidery Guild of America, Sandhill and Gulfview chapters, will exhibit their needle artwork from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 4 at Heritage Pines Country Club, 11612 Vista Royal Drive, Hudson. Heritage Pines is off County Line Road. The display is free and open to the public.
