Editor: S.O.L.V.E. (Save Our Lives Volunteers Everyway) wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to our organization during 2000. Our relocation to 6102 Indiana Ave., New Port Richey, has been extremely successful and gratifying, mainly because of our compassionate friends in our community. We wish all of you a very blessed New Year.
-- Rita O'Connor, president
Editor: A special "thank you" goes out to the Men's Club, Lazy Daze Team and all the residents of Senate Manor who contributed toward the success of Toys For Tots. You are among very special people who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Not once, not twice, but time after time, you prove your loyalty and dedication. You have brought honor on yourselves, an honor we reserve for our very best friends.
Your kindness has brightened 1,330 children's lives. All of us Marines are truly grateful for your continued generosity.
-- Diana L. Thornton, co-chairman, Toys for Tots
Editor: The Center for Independence Inc. recently received an award of $35,000 for the new Performing and Visual Arts Center to open in Dade City. It is easy to thank the board of directors of United Way, but we know that the people of Pasco County are the true givers. It is through the generosity of those givers who dig deep in their pockets who will be helping us to start a program that will help people with mental retardation and other development disabilities.
-- Emile Laurino, chief executive officer, The Center for Independence Inc.
Editor: I would very much like to thank three very nice good Samaritans who helped push my car out of the road on Seven Springs Boulevard after it stalled and I couldn't get it started after leaving work one evening. One young man helped to start my car while another let me use his cell phone to call a family member and then followed me home to make sure my car did not stall again. A very nice lady also stopped and helped to push my car back into the parking lot. This happened about two or three months ago and there hasn't been a day gone by that I haven't thought of these wonderful people.
I'm sorry that this letter was so long in coming, but I do thank them and remember them in my prayers. There is hope for this world as long as we have people like these who give unselfishly to others. I am so very grateful.
-- Liz Hartman, R.N., Seven Springs Surgery Center
