Sehorn coverage error leads to touchdown By RODNEY PAGE © St. Petersburg Times, published January 29, 2001 Predictably, defense ruled early in the quarter. Both teams failed to get a first down on their opening possessions. Baltimore had the first scoring chance about five minutes in when Trent Dilfer spotted an open Patrick Johnson in the end zone. But Dilfer's pass, a little long, bounced off his outstretched hands. The Ravens eventually punted. Dilfer would not miss on his next attempt to the end zone. With 6:50 remaining, Dilfer found Brandon Stokley over the middle at the 10-yard line. Stokley, who had a step on Jason Sehorn, dragged Sehorn into the end zone for the quarter's only score. The Giants sputtered throughout the quarter. Quarterback Kerry Collins completed 3 of 9 passes for 17 yards and New York had one first down. Pinned at his 1 midway through the quarter, Collins was almost sacked for a safety, and his pass from the end zone was dropped by cornerback Chris McAlister at the 10. Dilfer completed 3 of 9 passes. His biggest miss came after Sehorn slipped covering Johnson, who almost certainly would have scored a 72-yard TD. The quarter ended with both teams trading punts. There were nine punts in the quarter.
