Great Gatsby dance
The Clearwater Public Library System's Youth Advisory Committee will present its "Great Gatsby Dance" from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the Clearwater East Library, 2251 Drew St. Come dressed for the Roaring '20s and get in the swing of things. The Dunedin Public Library will host MusicFest 2001, a concert featuring six bands comprised of current and former students of Dunedin High. The concert will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highlander Park, at the corner of Michigan Boulevard and Pinehurst Avenue in Dunedin. The Tampa Bay Area Writing Project's winter conference will be Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The conference will feature three interactive workshops on the best practices for the teching of writing. The fee is $45 in advance and $55 on site. The Council for Exceptional Children Suncoast Chapter 176 will host a a showcase on the Classroom Learning System from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gus A. The Clearwater-St. Petersburg Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa is sponsoring the Outstanding Layman Award. The award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to public education but is not currently working in the education profession. The selection committee will consider an individual's contributions to the community through education or other public service media. Individual's may receive this award only once.
