DUNEDIN -- A 93-year-old Clearwater man was killed in a two-car collision Monday. Joseph Notarangelo Sr. of 2456 Ecuadorian Way died after he was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center.

The accident occurred about 4:50 a.m. at Belcher Road and County Road 39, just northwest of the Dunedin city limits, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Notarangelo was riding in a Ford driven by his son, Joseph Notarangelo Jr., 67. They were headed south on Belcher.

A Chevrolet headed east on CR 39 entered Belcher, violating the Ford's right of way, said FHP Trooper Thomas O'Donnell. The Chevrolet hit the passenger side of the Ford.

The younger Notarangelo was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital. The Chevy's driver, Robert Scott Weiland, 33, of New Port Richey was taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital.

The accident was under investigation, and no charges had been filed Tuesday.
