Hey, Mom and Dad, it's Barney!
It's hard to believe that a decade ago, no one had heard of a purple dinosaur named Barney. Barney and Friends quickly became No. 1 with the preschool set after its 1992 debut on public television. Before long, the dinosaur's face and that "I love you, you love me" song were everywhere. He's lost a bit of his star quality in recent years, but Barney still seems to mesmerize the sippy-cup crowd. His "Barney's Musical Castle" comes to the Ice Palace in Tampa for seven shows beginning Wednesday at 7 p.m. The production, in Tampa through Feb. 11, promises lots of singing as Barney, Baby Bop, BJ and pals travel through an enchanted forest, have a tea party and encounter magical horses, dancing suits of armor and all sorts of fun stuff. Ebony Fashion Fair: glamor and good causes
For 43 years, Ebony has put together a glamorous traveling fashion show featuring young models from around the country. They wear clothes from famous American, Italian, British and French designers in a lavishly orchestrated production. And the shows raise money for local charities. Both the St. Petersburg and Tampa Urban Leagues will benefit from the shows in the Tampa Bay area this week. The Ebony Fashion Fair comes to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center at 5 p.m. Sunday.
