A comedy about the plight of a young wife who wants to start a home-based business to help bolster the family budget begins its run at the Citrus County Art League today.

No Sex Please, We're British will be performed weekends tonight through Feb. 18 at the art league, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., off County Road 486 west of Hernando.

The play is about the Hunters, a young married couple. There's Peter, a staid banker, and his slightly frigid wife Frances (played by Alan Jones and Carola McIntyre), who could use some extra cash.

The wife decides on a plan to sell Scandinavian glassware from her house. But somehow, the order gets messed up and she winds up with a shipment of Scandinavian pornographic pictures. Then another shipment arrives -- movies this time -- and finally a third shipment.

"The more they try to get out of it, the more stuff they send," said director Bill Halavan.

While the young Hunters are inundated with smut, a second plot develops.

Peter's mother-in-law,Helen (Fran Barg), stops in for a visit. And she falls for his boss at the bank, Mr. Broadhead (George Koproski).

Things really heat up when the third shipment from the porn company arrives.

"They send a couple of hookers over," Halavan said.

The hookers are played by Elisha Rock and Amanda Dole. By mistake, they wind up spending some time with a bank auditor, Brian (Jerry Rust).

Halavan said the bedroom farce is suitable for older teens and adults.

"There's no dirty language or anything like that," he said. "It's just plain fun. You know, in one door and out the other."

Friday and Saturday show times are 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets available at the art league box office from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the door. An opening night Lite Bite reception begins at 6:45 p.m. today and is $5. Call 746-7606.
