LAND O'LAKES -- The start of the East Lake-Land O'Lakes game was delayed almost an hour Thursday after East Lake forward Steve Campbell was knocked unconscious with 1:37 left in the junior varsity game.

When he came to, Campbell had trouble breathing, was ashen and did not know where he was.

Medical personnel considered bayflighting him to a nearby hospital. Instead, Campbell was stabilized, fitted with a neck brace and taken by ambulance to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in New Port Richey.

His condition was unknown late Thursday night.

Land O'Lakes won the varsity game 74-51.

The Gators outshot East Lake 53 to 39 percent and made 9 of 16 three-point attempts. The Eagles, once they fell behind early, tried to shoot themselves back into it from long range but made just 5 of 19.

Of their 15 missed shots in the first half, 11 were from beyond the arc leading to a 38-20 halftime deficit.
