MIAMI 72, NO. 25 SETON HALL 66: James Jones scored a career-high 21 points, including two three-pointers to key the host Hurricanes' 18-2 opening run. "We had a tremendous game plan, simple: Just step back if they give me the three," Jones said. "It was like playing H-O-R-S-E." Jones also helped hold Seton Hall's leading scorer, Eddie Griffin, to 12 points and a season low in rebounds (seven) and blocks (none), far below his 19.5 scoring average, 12.5 rebounding average and five blocks.

TROY ST. 76, JACKSONVILLE 60: Shawn Platts scored 19 points, but the visiting Dolphins gave up a 23-8 run in the second half.

MERCER 81, STETSON 72: Scott Emerson scored 22 for the host Bears.

LA. TECH 59, FIU 49: Host Florida International shot 31.3 percent.
