CLEARWATER -- Paul Marino withdrew from the race for Clearwater City Commission on Thursday.

That leaves his opponents for seat 3, former Mayor Rita Garvey and beach businessman Hoyt Hamilton, to face each other in the March 13 election. Marino, a lawyer, said he is battling the flu, facing a "total reorganization" of his business and trying to cope with his mother's hospitalization, prompting his withdrawal.

Assistant City Clerk Sue Diana said the city will reprint and remail requested absentee ballots. The city will be able to revise the March ballot before it is printed.
