    Clinical pharmacist to discuss medications

    SEMINOLE -- Amy Griswold, a clinical pharmacist with Eckerd PatientCARE Centers, will discuss "Avoiding Medication Errors" at 3 p.m. Tuesday at The Vineyard Inn Assisted Living Facility, 10929 Ridge Road.

    Topics will include herbal products, over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs and how to maximize the benefits of medications. There will be refreshments. Sponsored by The Vineyard Inn and Wright's Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Free admission, but reservations required. (727) 391-9986.

    Largo Heart Institute to offer screenings

    LARGO -- Affordable cholesterol and cardiovascular screenings are being offered by the Largo Heart Institute this month. For $10, a person will get a full cholesterol and glucose screening, carotid artery screening, blood pressure and pedal pulse vascular screening. Participants also will meet privately with a cardiovascular nurse who will explain the results. Fasting is not required, but is recommended for more accurate cholesterol results. Screenings will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be offered Thursday, Feb. 15, Feb. 19, Feb. 22 and Feb. 26. Reservations are required. The Largo Heart Institute is at the Largo Medical Center, 201 14th St. SW. Call (727) 588-5702.
