Clinical pharmacist to discuss medications

SEMINOLE -- Amy Griswold, a clinical pharmacist with Eckerd PatientCARE Centers, will discuss "Avoiding Medication Errors" at 3 p.m. Tuesday at The Vineyard Inn Assisted Living Facility, 10929 Ridge Road.

Topics will include herbal products, over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs and how to maximize the benefits of medications. There will be refreshments. Largo Heart Institute to offer screenings

LARGO -- Affordable cholesterol and cardiovascular screenings are being offered by the Largo Heart Institute this month. For $10, a person will get a full cholesterol and glucose screening, carotid artery screening, blood pressure and pedal pulse vascular screening. Participants also will meet privately with a cardiovascular nurse who will explain the results. Fasting is not required, but is recommended for more accurate cholesterol results. Screenings will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be offered Thursday, Feb. 15, Feb. 19, Feb. 22 and Feb. 26. Reservations are required.
