Tampa man accused of kidnapping and rapeBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published February 5, 2001 TAMPA -- A man accused of kidnapping, raping and beating a woman was arrested Sunday morning at a motel on Columbus Drive. Authorities said Isidro Cuautle, 30, of 2015 Harper St., rammed the woman's car about 1 a.m. Saturday as she pulled into a driveway. He then dragged the woman, whom he knows, from her car and pulled her into his, officials said. The St. Petersburg Times is withholding her name because of the nature of the charges. Cuautle is accused of keeping the woman captive for hours, during which he beat and raped her, officials said. About 3 p.m. Saturday, Cuautle got out of his car at N 56th Street and Hillsborough Avenue, leaving the woman inside alone. She drove away and called police. An anonymous caller contacted the Sheriff's Office about 11 a.m. Sunday and said Cuautle was staying at the Tampa 8 Motel at 4530 Columbus Drive. He was arrested there without incident, said Debbie Carter, spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Cuautle was being held without bail at the Hillsborough County jail. He is charged with sexual battery, kidnapping, aggravated battery, battery and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He previously had been charged with battery in 1997 and 1998. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
