LEARN FROM THE MASTERS: The Citrus County Master Gardener Association is having a fertilizer sale and offering free seedling trees from 9 a.m. until noon Feb. 17 at the Citrus County Extension Office, next to the auditorium at the fairgrounds on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. The fertilizer is 16-4-8 formula, which is less damaging to the environment and suitable for general landscape use. Cost is $11 for a 50-pound bag. Tree seedlings include a selection of swamp chestnut oak, red bud, dogwood, chickasaw plum and sand pine. Also available in limited supply is the Citrus County Master Gardener 2001 calendar and gardening guide. Cost is $3.

INVERNESS GARDEN CLUB: Meets at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 261, Building 200, of Withlacoochee Technical Institute across W Main Street from the Kash n' Karry grocery in Inverness. Sally Thrush's program, "Corsages," includes a demonstration of how corsages are made as well as a practice session. Light refreshments will be served. Visitors welcome. SAFE BOATING: Safe boating classes will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3 and 10 at Crystal River Power Squadron, 845 NE Third Ave., Crystal River. Charge for materials is $22. Call Barbara Kane at 726-2476 or Jim Barker at 795-1026.

TURKEY HUNTING: Citrus County Parks and Recreation will be sponsoring a workshop on hunting wild turkeys from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Homosassa Lions Club on Homosassa Trail. Topics include life cycle, identification, calling techniques and current hunting regulations regarding wild turkeys. Instructor Jerry Lamm is an avid turkey hunter and conservationist. Other speakers include turkey caller Bob Barnard and a representative from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. The class is limited to 30 attendees, registration required. Cost is $15. RUN AND FUN WALK: The fifth annual Run and Fun Walk will be Feb. 17 at Chinsegut Nature Center, about 7 miles north of Brooksville. Late registration begins at 7:30 a.m. A 5K run starts at 8:30 and a 1-mile fun walk starts five minutes later. Entree fees are $10 for the 5K, $6 for the walk. Make checks payable to Wildlife Foundations of Florida, and mail to Chinsegut Nature Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville, FL34601. Call (352) 754-6722.

BUTTONWOOD BONSAI CLUB: The club meets at 9:30 a.m. the third Friday of every month from September through June at First Presbyterian Church, 1501 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. The club also holds a non-formated meeting at Hobson's Herbs 131 NE Crystal St. Crystal River at 9:30 a.m. the last Saturday of every month.

ASK A MASTER: A master gardener will be available to answer plant questions from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Coastal Region Library, 8619 W Crystal St., Crystal River. The program is held in the community room and there is no charge. Call 795-3716.

POWER SQUADRON: Crystal River Power Squadron meets the second Tuesday of every month except July and August. LANDSCAPING SERIES: Citrus Memorial Hospital SHARE Club offers a monthly landscaping series on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. in the hospital auditorium on Grace Street and Osceola Avenue, Inverness. GARDEN CLUB OF CRYSTAL RIVER: Meets at 1 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Seven Rivers Golf and Country Club, Crystal River. Call June Mantey at 795-0909.

RAILS TO TRAILS: General membership meetings are at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at Lakes Region Library, Inverness. To get on the agenda, call Janice McCann at 637-3744. Rails to Trails is a support group for the Rails to Trails State Park.

SHOOTING CLUB: Citrus County Shooting Club meets from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays at Kane's Ace Hardware shooting range on U.S. 19 in Homosassa. Call Don Hills, 746-0851, or Don Cook, 527-1598.

PLANT CLINIC: Lakes Region Library on Druid Street, Inverness, has plant clinics from 2 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Master gardeners from the Citrus County Extension Office are on hand to answer questions about plants and gardening.
