CARROLLWOOD/NORTHDALE/ODESSA'The Children's Hour' opensThe Carrollwood Players will present The Children's Hour, a serious adult play written by Lillian Hellman. The play is about a malicious youngster who starts an entirely unfounded rumor about two women who run a school for girls. The rumor turns to scandal and ends in tragedy for the women. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays beginning this week, Feb. 16-17, 23-24 and March 2-3, and 3 p.m. Sundays starting next week, Feb. 18 and 25. The play will be held a the Carrollwood Playhouse in Plantation Plaza, 4333 Gunn Highway, north of Linebaugh Avenue. NEW TAMPA/UNIVERSITY/LUTZValentine's Christian concert setDaniel B. Marshall, singer and songwriter, will present a Valentine's Christian concert from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Tims Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 Sunset Lane. Marshall is working on his first album, I Wanna Be a Christian, and will perform original music as well as contemporary favorites. Cost is $5; proceeds will be donated to the Joshua House. TAMPAAnimal advisory committees meetThe Rebate Survey Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. today. The committee is working on the script for a survey to determine how much Animal Service's spay/neuter rebate affects a pet owner's decision to proceed with sterilization surgery. Occident Street drainage discussedHillsborough County staff and engineers will hold a public meeting to discuss phase II and III drainage improvements along Occident Street. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in the cafeteria at Leto High School, 4409 W Sligh Ave. Phase II will include reconstructing the existing drainage system from Lambright Street to Henry Street. Phase III will include upgrading the culverts under Occident Street between Lambright and Knollwood streets. Construction on the $520,000 project is scheduled to begin early 2002 and be completed by early 2003. For information, call (813) 272-5275. Burn, wound support group meetsThe Tampa Bay Regional Burn Center at Tampa General Hospital will hold its first meeting of The Long-term Burn and Wound Survivor Group at 6:30 p.m. today. The group will focus on issues survivors must face after initial treatment including social, occupational, psychological, skin care and medical. The meeting, moderated by Rich Brown will be held in the Burn Center Conference Room, sixth floor at TGH on Davis Islands. Future meeting dates will be determined at this initial meeting.
