Countryside Montessori Academy: A "Why Montessori Kindergarten?" meeting and brunch will be held for parents from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Land O'Lakes campus, located at 21404 Carson Drive. The school recently received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Kid's Stuff Preschool: A fundraising bike-a-thon will be held Feb. 14. Money raised will help defray expenses of medical care not covered by insurance for a student undergoing treatment for cancer. For information, call (813) 949-2237.

Sand Pine Elementary: Advisory Council meets from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the media center. McCrane Night, 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pebble Creek McDonald's on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Valentine Social for students grades 3 through 5, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Wesley Chapel High: Valentine Dance and Lip Sync contest, 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the gym.

West Zephyrhills Elementary: Parents to Kids, Thursday. PTA Parent and Student Dance, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the cafeteria.

Zephyrhills High: Free SAT prep courses are offered at 3:30 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday. Interested students should sign up with Mrs. Morel in the Adult Education Office. Entry forms are available in the front office for this year's Pasco County Fair exhibits.

Brandon Dobson was named December Student of the Month at Pine View Middle School. Mrs. Becky Miles has been named Teacher of the Year at Pine View. Ms. Lorie Ogden was named School Related Person of the Year. Fifth-grader Heather Knox was named the winner of the Yearbook Design Contest held at Quail Hollow Elementary School. She was awarded a $20 check, and her design will appear on the school yearbook.

More than 130 present and former staff and family members at Zephyrhills High School honored Mrs. Karen Knight during a retirement luncheon held recently. During her 22-year tenure, Mrs. Knight served in positions at West Zephyrhills Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Pasco Middle and Zephyrhills High.

Chris Black was named January Student of the Month. Health Assistant Debbie Limoges was selected as the School related person of the month, and Shirley Cherry was named Teacher of the Month in recognition of their efforts with the Assist Believe and Care program at the school. Carolyn Young was selected to represent Zephyrhills High as the Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month. Senior Derek Meier has been nominated by Rep. Michael Bilirakis to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Top Dog referrals went to Chris Boyette and Jonathan Mine.
