CHOCACHATTI ELEMENTARY: The school will have orientation at 7 tonight, 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16 and 7 p.m. Feb. 27 in the cafeteria for parents wishing to enroll their children in the school for the 2001-02 year. Parents must attend one of these meetings to apply for the lottery, held in March to fill about 90 seats for the coming school year. For information, call 797-7067.

SPRINGSTEAD HIGH: The band boosters will hold a silent auction Feb. 17 in the cafeteria. Items include event tickets as well as certificates for meals, goods and services at local businesses and individual prizes. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the auction drawing beginning at 7. Call 797-7010 or 686-9795 for information.

CENTRAL HIGH: The band boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the band room. End-of-the-year activities and fundraisers will be discussed.

PARENT FCAT WORKSHOPS: Parents as Partners FCAT workshops will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday (for parents of 10th-graders) and Feb. 20 (for parents ninth-graders) in the media center. Topics include assisting parents in helping their children in study habits, test-taking and homework. Call Lorna Lowe at 797-7020, ext. 6309 for information.

MOTON ELEMENTARY: The Parent-Teacher Organization will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria.

J.D. FLOYD ELEMENTARY: The school advisory council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

FOX CHAPEL MIDDLE: The school advisory council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the media center.

WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY: The school will sponsor its For the Love of Reading program from 2-3 p.m. Friday. Parents and community members will read one-on-one with students. Afterward, participants will write their thoughts about the books on a heart-shaped form and have snacks. For information, call 797-7080.

Newsmakers

Jennifer Drankwalter Aliotta is the teacher of the month and Christen Mylrea is employee of the month for J.D. Floyd Elementary School. Aliotta, who teaches language arts is a 1977 graduate of the University of South Florida. She lives with her husband, James Aliotta. Mylrea is an aide and a former school volunteer. She works with the Exceptional Student Education program. She lives in Brooksville with her husband, Douglas Mylrea.
