18-year-old accused of aiding an escape

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A man accused of opening a patrol car door to release a cohort during a melee with Pasco County sheriff's deputies was arrested Tuesday and charged with aiding an escape, a report said.

Jason Anthony Young, 18, of 12174 Linden Drive in Spring Hill was arrested at an apartment in New Port Richey at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to an arrest report, Young opened the back door of a sheriff's patrol car to release a prisoner during a melee at the intersection of St. Regis Drive and Stone Road on the evening of Feb. 1. Four people were arrested after deputies tried arresting one person and ended up in a scuffle with four, including Young's brother, John Andrew Young, 21.

Jason Young was released on his own recognizance Tuesday on a judge's order after being held on a $5,000 bond.

2 Holiday men charged with selling cocaine

HOLIDAY -- Two Holiday men were arrested and charged with selling cocaine Monday after they sold the drug to undercover sheriff's deputies, according to authorities.

Pasco County sheriff's officials said Gerardo Virgil Rodriguez, 22, drove Greg Allen Reed, 20, to meet with an undercover deputy on Dec. 27.

The deputy bought three grams of cocaine -- 0.10 ounce -- from Reed for $120, an affidavit said. Rodriguez also gave the undercover deputy his phone number, officials said.

On Jan. 5, an undercover deputy said, he bought 6.4 grams of cocaine -- 0.22 ounce -- from Reed for $220.

Reed of 1846 Holiday Drive was charged with two counts of selling cocaine and two counts of possessing cocaine.

Rodriguez of 1744 Colmar Drive was charged with one count of selling cocaine.

Rodriguez was released Monday from the county jail in Land O'Lakes on a $5,000 bond.

Reed was released Tuesday on a $4,000 bond.
