TAMPA -- Kerrine Black didn't waste much time this season.

Competing in just the third match of the indoor track season Tuesday at the University of Florida, Black qualified for the NCAA championship meet in the long jump.

Black finished second with a leap of 21 feet. She also earned a second in the triple jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 42 feet, 5 inches.

This comes on the heels of Black being named Conference USA Track Athlete of the Week Jan. 23 after solid performance where Black won the triple jump and long jump.

She also placed second in the 200 meters and third in the 60 meters. Her performances helped lead the Bulls to a team title at Clemson, where they scored 1321/2 points, beating second place Clemson by 401/2 points.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Bulls suffered two losses on the road last weekend, against Saint Louis and Charlotte.

The Bulls (3-18, overall, 0-10 in C-USA) suffered a 58-42 loss at Saint Louis after a poor offensive shooting performance. USF shot 12-of-45 from the floor as Shannon Layne led the team with 10 points.

However, USF played better in Sunday's 50-45 loss at Charlotte.

Layne and Aiya Shepard scored 14 points each, but the Bulls let a late lead slip away in the loss, which was the Bulls' 10th in a row and 16th in a row on the road.

The Bulls host Tulane at 7 tonight at the Sun Dome and Southern Mississippi at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sun Dome on a game being telecast by Fox Sports Net Florida.

SOFTBALL: The Bulls are still looking for their first win of the season after falling 5-0 to No. 3 Arizona on Sunday.

USF (0-5) travels to Gainesville to take on Stetson, Florida and Southeastern Louisiana in the University of Florida Tournament.

BASEBALL: USF opens the season Saturday with a two-game series at Stetson.
