CLEARWATER -- For the 11th year, the GFWC Clearwater Junior Woman's Club will award Helping Hands Community Grants to area charitable organizations. The grants, for up to $2,500, are awarded in the areas of the arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs and public affairs.

In the past 10 years, the Junior Woman's Club has awarded more than $143,000 in grants through its annual fundraiser, Christmas Under the Oaks. Application deadline is Feb. 23. They can be obtained by sending an e-mail to ebkagan@earthlink.net or by calling 723-0888.

    Pediatric clinic open on Wednesdays

CLEARWATER -- Every Wednesday between 9 a.m. and noon the Clearwater Free Clinic offers a special pediatric clinic for children not covered by private health insurance or government-assisted programs. The clinic's family practice nurse practitioner and a pediatrician are available at those times to see patients between the ages of 2 and 18. The nurse practitioner's services are made possible by a grant from the Eckerd Family Foundation. For a pediatric appointment, call the Clearwater Free Clinic at 447-3041.
