FSU edges No. 4 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- Brooke Wyckoff scored 20 points as Florida State upset No. 4 Duke 71-69 on Thursday night, ending the Blue Devils' 12-game winning streak.

Florida State scored its final six points on free throws. Duke's Georgia Schweitzer made a three-pointer at the buzzer.

The Blue Devils opened the second half with a 13-0 run and led by three with six minutes remaining.

FSU overcame the deficit with seven points from April Traylor. Her last field goal gave the Seminoles a 65-62 lead with 3:06 left.

"Not one time did a player on my team flinch," FSU coach Sue Semrau said. "I'm really proud of them."

Wyckoff said: "We played really great help defense and went to the boards hard. We really wanted this game."

The Seminoles, the Atlantic Coast Conference's second-worst three-point shooting team at 26.3 percent, were 7-for-13.

"They were ready and we were not," Duke coach Gail Goestenkors said. "They hit from the inside and they hit from the outside. They had players hit threes who hadn't hit any all year, or one all year."

NO. 6 FLORIDA 75, ARKANSAS 64: Brandi McCain scored 18 points and Tamara Stocks added 15 for the visiting Gators, who shot 48.8 percent to the Razorbacks' 30 percent.

Arkansas trailed by 17 points in the second half and never got closer than the halftime margin of seven.

"We dodged a big bullet," Florida coach Carol Ross said. "This is one of the tougher arenas to win in in the (SEC). They hung in there and played good defense."

The Razorbacks played without Shameka Christon, who was suspended indefinitely on Wednesday for a violation of team rules.

UCF 62, STETSON 51: With Hatters center Kaisa Tuure in foul trouble and playing only 14 minutes, the host Golden Knights ended a six-game losing streak.

FAU 82, JACKSONVILLE 45: Dolphins forward Angela Walker had a school-record seven steals but visiting Jacksonville's six-game winning streak ended. Florida Atlantic's LaTorria Matthews scored all 18 of her points in the first half, including 5 of 8 three-pointers.
