Hillsborough United Methodist Church

LOCATION: 9008 Harney Road, Tampa (813) 988-3077

SERVICES: Regular worship begins on Sunday at 11 a.m. Church school starts at 9:30 a.m. and youth meetings are held each Sunday at 5 p.m.

LEADERSHIP: Senior pastor Sue Haupert-Johnson is in her second year at Hillsborough United. She earned her law degree from the University of Florida in 1995 and worked as a trial lawyer for a few years before seeking her true passion -- God. She earned her master's of divinity from Emory University in Atlanta. Pastor Haupert-Johnson and her husband are expecting their first baby in August.

HISTORY:The church has been at the same location for almost eight decades. Before United Methodist Church was founded, another church met there as a brush arbor -- no building, just a lean-to with branches to provide cover from the weather.

RECENT SERMON TOPIC OR THEME: Pastor Haupert-Johnson is basing her recent sermons on "stressing outreach to the community." She says that members need to get out and work in the community.

MEMBERSHIP: About 310.
