Casino Night set for FridayThe Hunter's Green Charity Committee will host its Black and White Casino Night charity event at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The event will be at the Hunter's Green Country Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive. Sponsorships and donations of auction items are needed. Cost is $35 per person, which includes a buffet and 1,500 casino dollars. Corporate and individual table sponsorships are also available. Proceeds will benefit the Children's Cancer Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children who have cancer or chronic blood disorders to cope with their life-threatening illnesses. Club plans Fairy Tale FestivalThe New Tampa Junior Woman's Club has planned its annual Fairy Tale Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. March 4 at the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd. Tickets are now available for the event, formerly known as the Storybook Tea Party. The child-oriented festival will feature arts and crafts, costumes, sword fighting games, a magic show and castle spacewalk. Tickets must be purchased in advance. All profits will benefit the New Tampa Regional Library. Tickets are $8 for children between the ages of 2 and 11 and $20 for adults. To buy tickets, call Lori at (813) 978-0085. Watercolor workshop set for centerTom Jones will conduct a three-day watercolor workshop at the Old Hyde Park Center, 705 Swann Ave. The workshops will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Friday, Feb. 17 and 18. Jones, who is largely self-taught, has works displayed internationally in many private and corporate collections, including commissioned paintings in the Florida State Capitol Building, Walt Disney World Corp., Marriott Corp. and the Omni Corp. Women lawyers to host meetingThe Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers will host its monthly membership luncheon meeting from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Tampa Club, 101 E Kennedy Blvd. Ann Marie Rogers, associate athletic director, women's athletics at the University of Florida, will be the guest speaker. A presentation on "College Athletics: Not Just for Men" will focus on the nationally acclaimed women's athletic program at the University of Florida and, on the effect of Title IX on women's sports in general. The cost is $14 for members, $16 for guests. The deadline for reservations is noon on Monday.
