How to buy or build an energy-efficient homeBy Times Staff Writer © St. Petersburg Times, published February 10, 2001 Another in a series of programs about how to buy or build an energy-efficient home will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Keller Willliams Landmark Realty, 5922 Ninth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Speakers will discuss the federal Energy Star certification, which guarantees that homes and appliances use at least 30 percent less energy than is standard. They will also discuss making existing homes more energy efficient, special mortgages offered for Energy Star homes and the process of home financing.
