Spring Hill Fire Rescue District Chief Mike Morgan was hospitalized Sunday morning, reportedly for heart problems.
Morgan was listed Monday night as a patient at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. His condition was not immediately available.
Initially, Bob Kanner, chairman of the district's five-member commission, said Morgan had suffered a heart attack but later declined to confirm that information. "My feelings are that's what it is, but I can't say absolutely," he said. "Nobody is telling me that.... There's all kinds of rumors flying around."
Kanner said Morgan was taken early Sunday to a hospital in Dade City, where he was staying. At some point later, Morgan was transferred to Bayonet Point.
In Morgan's absence, Kanner said, Assistant Chief J.J. Morrison will head operations in the approximately 70-member district.
