The following water use restrictions are in place for Citrus residents:
Irrigation is limited to one day per week.
Residents in all unincorporated parts of the county are on a five-day watering schedule: addresses ending in 0 or 1, Monday; 2 or 3, Tuesday; 4 or 5, Wednesday; 6 or 7, Thursday and 8 or 9, Friday. Watering in these areas is prohibited between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Residents in the city limits of Inverness or Crystal River water on Tuesday if their address is an even number, or Sunday if their address is an odd number. Watering in these areas is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- People can hand-water their gardens -- not lawns -- any time during the week.
- Washing vehicles using hoses with shut-off nozzles is allowed any time. Washing walkways and driveways is prohibited.
- The Southwest Florida Water Management District urges people to limit their water use. Possibilities include taking three-minute showers, installing low-flow fixtures and repairing plumbing leaks. A leaking toilet can waste up to 200 gallons per day.
