Time Warner Communications awarded Cable in the Classroom minigrants to six south Pinellas teachers last week. The grants, which will be used to fund cable classroom projects, were awarded to:
Nancy Millichamp and Susan Duncan, both of Madeira Beach Middle School; Patricia Cone, Hamilton Disston School; Sharon J. Feen, Pinellas Technical Education Centers, St. Petersburg campus; Bennie R. Smith, Bay Point Middle school; and Sherrie Williams, Dixie Hollins High School.
The fourth annual Career Awareness Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 at Tyrone Square Mall. The event is designed to help students understand what to expect from future employers.
Representatives from a variety of fields will be on hand to answer questions and discuss career options in business services, construction, education, engineering, financial services, hospitality, manufacturing, mass communications, medical services, public service, retail and transportation.
Attendees also will have an opportunity to learn about local career training from Pinellas Technical Education Centers, St. Petersburg Junior College and the University of South Florida.

St. Petersburg Junior College will offer SAT preparation classes from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays beginning Feb. 24 at the SPJC-Allstate Center in St. Petersburg and at the SPJC-Seminole, Clearwater and Tarpon Springs campuses.
The classes will prepare students for the SAT to be administered May 5.
Cost, including textbook, is $89. Students from public and private high schools are encouraged to sign up.
Classes also will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 6 at Boca Ciega, Countryside, Dunedin, East Lake and Palm Harbor high schools. Cost for the classes, scheduled from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 3, is $99 for both days and includes a textbook.
The prep classes use a curriculum that combines a math and verbal review, retired practice tests, remedial exercises, review questions and test-taking strategies.

Eckerd College's annual Career Networking Fair is scheduled from noon to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in Fox Hall on the Eckerd campus, 4200 54th Ave. S.
