Free seminars offered at diabetes centerBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published February 15, 2001 LARGO -- A series of free programs are offered this month by Largo Medical Center's Diabetes Educational Center, 1300 S Fort Harrison Ave. in Clearwater. All will be in the center's second-floor classroom. Programs and topics are as follows: Today: 1 to 3 p.m., the Diabetes Support Group will discuss "Underground Complications of Diabetes." Feb. 20: 5 to 6 p.m., Dr. Paul DiMarco will conduct an osteoporosis seminar. Feb. 23: 1 to 3 p.m., freestyle meter demonstration. Reservations required. Call 588-5702. It's time to apply for Helping Hands grantsCLEARWATER -- The GFWC Clearwater Junior Woman's Club will award Helping Hands Community Grants to area charitable organizations. The grants, for up to $2,500, are awarded in the areas of the arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs and public affairs. Application deadline is Feb. 23.
