Lisa Diane Bowser, 39515 Central Ave. in Crystal Springs, was receiving medical attention Tuesday from Pasco County Fire Rescue workers on State Road 39, a report stated. She was in an ambulance on the way to East Pasco Medical Center when she punched a paramedic on the left side of his face with a closed fist, deputies said. The paramedic suffered minor injuries. Bowser was treated at the hospital and later released. She then was arrested and charged with simple battery on a firefighter. She was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail, where she remained Wednesday in lieu of $1,000 bail. Molten tar burns construction workerSAINT LEO -- A construction worker in Lake Jovita suffered severe burns Wednesday when he tripped and fell into two 5-gallon buckets of molten tar, said Dade City Fire Rescue Capt. Joey Wubbena. The burn victim was a 25-year-old Dade City man whose first name is Noel. His last name was unavailable. Wubbena said the man was carrying the buckets during a roofing job near the 12600 block of Grand Traverse Drive when the accident happened about 12:15 p.m. He said the most severe burns were on the man's left arm from his shoulder to his hand. "He had some first-degree and possible second-degree burns," Wubbena said. "His clothing was somewhat beneficial to keeping him from getting more burns." The man was taken by helicopter to the burn unit at Tampa General Hospital. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
