DADE CITY -- A 13-year-old Dade City girl was stabbed in the side Tuesday afternoon during a fight, the Dade City Police Department said.
The girl, whose name police had not released as of press time, was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
The girl's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. She was alert and talking as paramedics took her on a gurney out of her apartment at 37130 Main Ave.
The stabbing occurred around 5:30 p.m. in a parking lot on Main Avenue, one block east of the girl's apartment, police said. The girl walked home after she was stabbed.
The girl was stabbed by a 16-year-old girl, Chief Phil Thompson said. Police were still looking for the suspect and the weapon late Tuesday.
"At this point we're still trying to piece everything together," Thompson said, adding that police were still trying to determine the motive for the stabbing.
