Car hits school bus; no one injuredBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published February 16, 2001 CRYSTAL RIVER -- A Citrus school bus delivering students home from Rock Crusher Elementary School was struck head-on Thursday afternoon as it waited in the median to turn left at U.S. 19 and Stonebrook Drive. One student, the driver and an attendant were on the bus, according to Linda Fultz, transportation supervisor for the school district. A 1977 El Camino approached from the opposite direction and attempted to enter the median to make a left turn, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. The El Camino was struck from behind by a 1986 Suburban, which was then struck by a 1994 Mercury mini-van. The final chain of collisions pushed the El Camino into the front of the bus. No one was injured in the accident. The driver of the El Camino was charged with driving with a suspended license. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
