Fertilizer sale, free seedling trees offered

INVERNESS -- The Citrus County Master Gardener Association is having a fertilizer sale and offering free seedling trees from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Citrus County Extension Office, next to the auditorium at the fairgrounds on U.S. 41 S, Inverness. The fertilizer is 16-4-8 formula, which is less damaging to the environment and suitable for general landscape use. Cost is $11 for a 50-pound bag. Tree seedlings include a selection of swamp chestnut oak, red bud, dogwood, chickasaw plum and sand pine. Also available in limited supply is the Citrus County Master Gardener 2001 calendar and gardening guide. Cost is $3.

Safe boating classes offered March 3 and 10

CRYSTAL RIVER -- Safe boating classes will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3 and 10 at the Crystal River Power Squadron, 845 NE Third Ave., Crystal River. Charge for materials is $22. Call Barbara Kane at 726-2476 or Jim Barker at 795-1026.

Homosassa River Garden Club meets Monday

HOMOSASSA -- The Homosassa River Garden Club will meet Monday in the Magnolia Room of the Homosassa State Wildlife Park Visitors Center on U.S. 19 and Halls River Road. Social hour begins at 9:30 a.m. Joan Smith will lead a workshop at 10 a.m. entitled "Constructing Contrived Hibiscus." Please bring scissors.
