VEGAN DINNER: The Florida Voices for Animals will host its "Have a Heart for the Animals" vegan dinner at 6 p.m. at the Trang Viet Cuisine Restaurant, 1524 E Fowler Ave. A program will be presented with guest speaker Robert Cohen and musical entertainment by Jean Hart. GOSPEL OF MARK: Frank Runyeon, television and film star, will perform a one-man play at Grace Lutheran Church, 3714 W Linebaugh Ave. Runyeon will present Afraid! The Gospel of Mark, an entertaining, humorous and dramatic play, at 7 p.m. The performance is based on the text of the Gospel of Mark, translated into contemporary American speech. Runyeon has gained national acclaim as a translator and performer of biblical texts. Suggested donation is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children. HEAVEN'S GATES/HELL'S FLAMES: The live Heaven's Gates & Hell's Flames will be presented under the direction of Reality Outreach Ministries Inc. The play is a dramatic portrayal of several characters, varying in ages and circumstances, as they face death. Performances will begin at 6:30 p.m. today and 7:15 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at In the Name of Jesus World Outreach Center, 10925 Tarpon Springs in Odessa. The play will dramatize the joy of the believer as he enters God's presence, contrasted with the distraught condition of the unbeliever, who, in death, discovers that he is to spend eternity in the company of Satan. PHOTOGRAPHS EXHIBIT: The works of Michelle Jammes will be exhibited from Monday through March 9. The exhibit of portrait photographs titled "Otherwise" will be on display in the Centre Gallery in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center, CTR 246, at the University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave. Jammes, a recent fine arts graduate of USF, will be in the gallery from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Feb. 26-28. HISTORIAN TO SPEAK: Yehuda Bauer, a Holocaust historian, will speak at 6 p.m. in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center Ballroom at the University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave. Bauer's lecture, "Holocaust and Genocide: The Specific Threat and the Universal Dimensions" is sponsored by the USF Libraries and is part of USF's Werner and Anne Von Rosenstiel Lecture Series. CREATIVE MEMORIES: The Tampa Chapter of Mothers & More (previously known as FEMALE) will meet at 7 p.m. at Park Place, 13550 S Village Drive at Casey Road. Guest speaker Billie Armstrong will show how to organize, preserve and display photos in a safe and creative way. She will also demonstrate Creative Memories products. The discussion is free and open to the public. Mothers & More is a national not-for-profit support organization for women making the transition from employment outside the home to full-time motherhood. BIZYMOMS.COM: A new chapter of Bizymoms.com is being formed in the Tampa Bay area. The first monthly meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Sierra Family YMCA, 4029 Northdale Blvd. The organization for work-at-home moms, will provide personal interaction that women and men often get in an office environment, but sacrifice when they choose to work from home. Bizymoms.com offers chats and bulletin boards hosted by volunteer "bizymoms," a newsletter, weekly articles and Bizy eBooks, which cover topics on starting home-based businesses. SUNCOAST AMBASSADORS: The Suncoast Ambassadors, a volunteer organization of young, single professionals, will host a happy hour at 7:30 p.m. at Piccadilly's Cafeteria, 11810 N Dale Mabry Highway. REMEMBERING WORLD WAR II: The University Community Hospital SeniorCare Program will sponsor a free program on remembering World War II from 1 to 2 p.m. Gary Morimino, of the University of South Florida's History Deparment, will present the program, focusing on the history and ramifications of World War II and the global social and political impact. AMPUTEES TOGETHER: The next monthly meeting of Amputees Together will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Westcoast Brace & Limb, 5311 E Fletcher Ave. William Bonney, clinical psychologist, will be the featured speaker. Bonney will talk about pain management and phantom pain; a question-and-answer session will follow. Amputees Together, affiliated with the American Amputee Foundation, is a non-profit organization for upper- and lower-extremity amputees, their family members and friends and health care professionals. ENGINEERING EXPO: The University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave., will host its annual Engineering EXPO from 8 to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. The student-sponsored EXPO is designed to interest high school students in engineering. The event will feature a helicopter flight simulator that participants can pilot, a mousetrap car race, a balsa bridge-building competition and an electric car race. Exhibits include a laser light show, chemistry magic show, physics display and a tour of the College of Engineering. The event is free and open to the public. For information, call (813) 974-3585.

Looking ahead

NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN WOMEN: The Network of Christian Women will host its next monthly luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 28. The luncheon offers women of various ages and denominations an opportunity to socialize and enjoy an uplifting message. The event will be at the Embassy Suites, Spectrum Blvd., near USF. CARROLLWOOD AREA WOMEN'S CLUB: The Carrollwood Area Women's Club will host its monthly luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Heritage Harbor Country Club, 19502 Heritage Harbor Parkway, off Lutz-Lake Fern Road. Cost is $14. The deadline for reservations is Friday. The group will hold an election of officers for next year.
