BERKELEY PREP: The following area students were named National Merit Scholar finalists: Matthew Jacobson, Alison Karniski, Aaron Kotranza and Robert Swander. Only 7,900 Merit Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors nationwide each year.

CANNELLA ELEMENTARY: On Feb. 20, Chick-Fil-A at 6299 W Waters Ave. will donate to the school 10 percent of all sales made from 5 to 8 p.m.

CARROLLWOOD ELEMENTARY: Tutors are needed to assist students in reading, writing and math. For information, call Sandra Beekman at (813) 964-0118.

CITRUS PARK ELEMENTARY: Conference Night will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the school. Parents should contact their child's teacher to schedule an appointment. For information, call (813) 558-5356.

CLARK ELEMENTARY: The third-grade music program will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school's multipurpose room, 19002 Wood Sage Road. For information, call (813) 631-4333.

ESSRIG ELEMENTARY: The PTA will host "Family Fun Dance -- An Arctic Adventure" at 7 p.m. Friday in the school's cafeteria, 13131 Lynn Turner Road. The event will include ice sculptures, refreshments, a photo booth for family pictures and a disc jockey. Tickets are $2 per person in advance, $3 at the door. For information, call (813) 975-7307.

HUNTERS GREEN ELEMENTARY: The PTA Golf Tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Heritage Isles Golf & Country Club, 10630 Plantation Bay Drive. Breakfast will be provided. Cost is $60 per person, $100 per couple and $200 per foursome. For information, call Gigi Demick at (813) 907-0348.

LAKE MAGDALENE ELEMENTARY: Kindergarten Roundup will be at 9:15 a.m. March 2 in the media center, 2002 Pine Lake Drive. Parents or guardians should bring a copy of their child's birth certificate, proof of residency, health and immunization records and Social Security number. For information, call (813) 975-7625.

The PTA will present the annual carnival, Manafest, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 3 at the school. Activities will include festival booths, arts and crafts, silent auction and the "Taste of Lake Magdalene," featuring local restaurants. Five tickets can be purchased for $1 in advance, four for $1 the day of the event.

NORTHWEST ELEMENTARY: The Northwest PTA will hold a silent auction from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Avila Golf and Country Club, 943 Guisando De Avila. Tickets are on sale for $13. Proceeds will help purchase new playground equipment for the school. Donations of money and gift certificates for products or services to be auctioned can be mailed to the school, 16438 Hutchison Road, Tampa, FL 33625. For information, call (813) 975-7321.

SICKLES HIGH: The Fashion DECA (Distributive Education Club of America) Chapter will present its third annual spring fashion show, "United Styles of America," at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the school's auditorium. The show will feature fashions from retailers at Citrus Park Town Center and Citrus Park Plaza. Admission is $3 in advance, $5 at the door. TAMPA PALMS ELEMENTARY: The PTA will hold its annual spring fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday at the Tampa Palms Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd. This year's theme is "Good Sports for Education." Proceeds will benefit the school and the new Lawton Chiles Elementary PTA. Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Tampa Palms Elementary. STORYTELLING FESTIVAL: The 21st annual Tampa-Hillsborough County Storytelling Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at Hillsborough High School, 5000 Central Ave. The free event will include youth and adult storytellers, a storybook character parade, a book fair, puppet shows and workshops. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in the festival and become youth storytellers. Registration deadline is March 5. UPCOMING SAT EXAM: The SAT exam will be administered March 31 at Chamberlain, Hillsborough and Leto high schools. Registration deadline is Friday. Cost is $24. Late registration is an additional $15. Students can register online at www.collegeboard.com. For information, call (609) 771-7600.
