Fox watch

Readers comment on Fox’s performance in its Daytona 500 broadcast:

I think they should put the car's logo beside the driver's name on the running order. I'm trying to follow Dodge drivers, and I don't know all of them.

--Scotty Jones, Port Richey

The Daytona 500 Fox TV crew is superb! Great coverage during the race. Darrell Waltrip is the John Madden of racing. Thanks for making this the best Daytona 500 coverage ever.

--Jim Parsons, Huntington, W.Va

There was only one problem we had with the Fox coverage of Daytona 500, but it's a big one. The sickening horizontal scroll at the top was highly distracting from the track action and made us dizzy. We ended up draping a towel over the top of our TV screen to block it out; otherwise, the race would have been unwatchable. ...

Maybe they can pick up some pointers from ESPN, which always did an outstanding job with race coverage. On a positive note, Darrell Waltrip is a fantastic addition to the booth!

--D.L. Hilderbrandt, Seminole

Fox Sports took one of the best Daytona 500s in history and made it less than exciting. Mike Joy was invisible and Larry McReynolds didn't get much of a chance to add what little technical commentary there was. Darrell Waltrip will improve as the novelty of him being in the booth wears off. Most obvious to me, the pit reporters added very little insightful information and were really wasted. ... Fox was big on packaging and graphics but very poor when it came to actually covering the race.

--Brian Moyer, Port Richey
