Video game reviewsBy ROBB GUIDO © St. Petersburg Times, published February 19, 2001 Buzz Lightyear of Star CommandSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: Activision PRICE: $29.99 Buzz is not the best game by any means. The control is stubborn and levels have Buzz running mindlessly from start to finish. Even kids who loved Toy Story will have little fun with this one. Grade: D NCAA GameBreaker 2001SYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: 989 Sports PRICE: $49.99 989 Sports makes up for the horrendous NFL GameDay 2001 with its first successful football title for the PS2. It definitely has its quirks, and it doesn't look nearly as nice as Madden, but it should please fans in search of an NCAA alternative. Grade: B+ NCAA Final Four 2001SYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: 989 Sports PRICE: $49.99 Since there aren't too many choices out there, I can safely say that Final Four is one of the best basketball titles for the PS2. It's not the best simulation, in that points come way too easily. But it's fun and that's what counts. Grade: B Star Wars, Episode I: Obi-Wan's AdventuresSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: THQ PRICE: $29.99 Obi-Wan's Adventures is a fun action game for the small screen. Obi-Wan can bash enemies with his light saber, shoot them with a laser pistol or use the Force. It's just too short and simple to warrant more than a rental. Grade: C+ Hey You, Pikachu!SYSTEM: Nintendo 64 MAKER: Nintendo PRICE: $79.99 This one is definitely cute. Players can use the included microphone to befriend Pikachu and help him complete tasks. But unlike Pokemon Snap (which hooked me) this game is strictly for kids. Grade: B Spider-ManSYSTEM: Nintendo 64 MAKER: Activision PRICE: $49.99 Spider-Man for Nintendo 64 is a near copy of the PlayStation version, and like that version, the camera whips players around when in close quarters. Other than this, it's fun playing Spider-Man. Grade: B * * * - Robb Guido is an avid gamer who lives in Tampa.
