A day for reading
Get out your bookmarks in preparation for Read Across America Day March 2. The annual literacy event calls for "every child to be reading in the company of a caring adult" on this date, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel, who died in 1991). Among the projects taking place locally, High Point Elementary in Clearwater will be serving green eggs and ham for breakfast in the cafeteria and community leaders will read their favorite Dr. Seuss books with students.
And the winner is ...
Voting is under way for the 14th annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. There are 19 categories including favorite movie, band, cartoon and book. Kids have many voting options: online at www.nick.com; on ballots found inside Nickelodeon magazine; by calling the toll-free number displayed during programming; or at participating Burger King restaurants. The results will be broadcast April 21 at 8 p.m.
