CLEARWATER -- Florida Power will host a public hearing from 3 to 7 p.m. today regarding a 20.6-mile stretch of the Pinellas Trail that will run from Palm Harbor down the east side of the county to Weedon Island. The meeting will be in the college gymnasium at St. Petersburg Junior College, 2450 Drew St., Clearwater. The county will build the trail -- at a cost not to exceed $15-million -- and then lease it from Florida Power for $150,000 a year for 99 years. Florida Power officials will discuss the plan and answer questions.
