Bring it on, Parrotheads

Jimmy Buffett
So what if Jimmy Buffett was recently ejected from a Miami Heat game for screaming obscenities at the ref? Who cares if he was with his 6-year-old son? He's still our Jimmy, by golly, and Parrotheads will flock to see Florida's favorite son.

Even though Buffett gets passionate about his sports, it doesn't mean he has forgotten how to have a good time.

Sing along to the beachy, boaty hits: Cheeseburger in Paradise, Margaritaville, Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude and to heck with anger management.

Jimmy Buffett performs with the Coral Reefer Band. 8 p.m. today, Ice Palace, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $28.50-$49.50. (813) 301-2500

Weezer, we missed ya

Leader Rivers Cuomo writes the prettiest melodies; the band's follow-up, Pinkerton, notably more brash, still packed plenty of gorgeous, hummable fare and humor galore.

The band is back after a hiatus that had Cuomo studying at Harvard and two of the other guys playing in the equally catchy band the Rentals.

Weezer performs with the Get Up Kids at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the University of South Florida Sun Dome, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. Tickets are $20-$22 (813) 974-3002.

Mr. Smooth

After the Loving, indeed. Aside from having the coolest-sounding name ever in pop music, Engelbert Humperdinck has the smoothest of smoothy-smooth voices.

But, here's the weird part: His is a stage name. Can you believe it? Yes, born Arnold George Dorsey, the famously handsome singer "reinvented" himself, adopting this much more mellifluous name (from the composer of Hansel & Gretel) and acting oh-so-mysterious: Engie made a habit of disappearing quickly from the stage after performances. Whatever.

Mr. Humperdinck need only croon Release Me and There Goes My Everything to keep his throngs of (mostly female) fans under that wanton spell of his.

Humperdinck performs at 8 p.m. today and Friday at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater. $32.75-$35.75. (727) 791-7400.
