Homosassa Library group to meet today

HOMOSASSA -- The Friends of the Homosassa Library will conduct a general membership meeting at 2:30 p.m today at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa on Bradshaw Street.

Guest speakers will be Citrus County Library system director Flossie Benton Rogers and library system communications facilitator Melissa Walker. Rogers will speak about future trends important to the Citrus County Library System, highlighting materials collection, planned buildings, technology and services. Walker's presentation will be about the many hidden treasures of a library, emphasizing how important libraries are to the community.

Find out more about the library system and how it plans to meet the needs of the community in the 21st century. All are welcome to attend the meeting and presentation. A brief business meeting will follow the presentation. Light refreshments will be served.

As a reminder, February is membership renewal month. Members can attend the meeting, enjoy the presentations and refreshments, and renew memberships.

Florida Tourism Day set for March 20

HOMOSASSA SPRINGS -- Amy Virgo, owner/operator of Nature Coast Tourism Development Inc. and Welcome Center of Citrus County, announces that she will represent her company and Citrus County as a participant during Florida Tourism Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20, in Tallahassee.

This one-day event will showcase the tourism industry to legislators and visitors. Participants will share an outdoor table booth with another industry member from their area. Registrants are asked to include brochures, giveaways, coupons and characters to interact directly with the visitors. Virgo invites those involved directly with the tourism industry in Citrus County to contact her at 564-9197 to have their materials showcased during this event.

Suncoast Cloggers offer weekly lessons

CRYSTAL RIVER -- The Suncoast Cloggers sponsored by the city of Crystal River are meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings for ongoing intermediate and advanced clogging lessons. Also, a new Friday night nine-week beginner class is starting at 7 p.m. today in the Community Building at SE Seventh Avenue and Fifth Street. Mary Mixon-Patterson and Leslie Stevens will teach Appalachian and contemporary styles; participants don't need a partner to dance. All ages are welcome. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
