LECANTO -- An Oregon businessman plans to build a 6,500-square-foot retail strip with five stores on the north side of State Road 44, about a half mile east of County Road 491. The 3-acre site, which already is zoned for commercial development, would include a 6,000-square-foot store that may serve as an automobile service center, said Realtor Kevin Cunningham. The county already has approved the site plan, but no retailers have signed on for the storefronts, he said. Cunningham said the property owner, Bob Christianson, hopes to get several stores interested before starting construction later this year.
