Community Associations Day in Clearwater FridayBy Times Staff Writer © St. Petersburg Times, published February 24, 2001 CLEARWATER -- Community Associations Day, one of the most popular events of the year for residents of condominium and homeowners associations, is from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St., Clearwater. The event is sponsored by the Suncoast chapter of the Community Associations Institute, a non-profit organization that provides information, education and training about community living for residents, board members and managers. The keynote event, at 11 a.m., is a mock board meeting moderated by Ellen Hirsch de Haan, an attorney with the law firm of Becker & Poliakoff, which specializes in association law. Other events: 8:30 a.m., legal question-and-answer session with a panel of lawyers responding to written questions; also 8:30 a.m., Time-Warner communications panel; 9:45 a.m., forum on budgeting; also 9:45 a.m., forum on corrosion; 1 p.m., insurance forum; 1:15 p.m., planning reserve accounts for the association's future; 2:45 p.m., a second legal Q&A session. A trade show offers more than 100 booths displaying products and services for association living. All events are free.
