NOTES: The Seminoles had been playing better of late and hung close with No. 2 North Carolina on Thursday until the final minutes of the first half, when the Tar Heels used a 16-3 run to take a 36-26 halftime lead. The Heels then blew the game open, handing FSU its second-worst loss in nearly two months. ... Another setback will give the Seminoles their first 20-loss season since 1951-52, but they head to Raleigh to play the struggling and underachieving Wolfpack. ... The Wolfpack figured to contend for a NCAA Tournament bid but is struggling to remain above .500 and earn a fifth straight NIT bid. ... A key will be how well the Seminoles contain Inge and Wilkins, who combined for 51 points in the Wolfpack's 84-81 overtime win on Jan. 25 in Tallahassee. FSU hit 17 of 31 free throws in that loss. ... N.C. State has won four straight against FSU to tie the series at 14.
