Tampa Bay briefsBy Times staff reports © St. Petersburg Times, published February 26, 2001 Body of man found dead in salvage yard identifiedTAMPA -- A 57-year-old man found slain Saturday morning has been identified as Buford Von Hamilton of Tampa. Hamilton was found dead in an auto parts salvage yard at 4917 Austin Drive, off U.S. 41 south of Causeway Boulevard. His body was beside the Chevy Scottsdale camper that he lived in. His white Chevy pickup was missing. Lt. Rod Reder of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Tampa police found the pickup Sunday morning. So far, Reder said, detectives have no suspects. Witnesses at the scene said Hamilton's throat had been cut. Hillsborough boy, 4, treated for stab woundTAMPA -- A 4-year-old boy had surgery Sunday night at St. Joseph's Hospital to repair damage from a stab wound. Lt. Rod Reder of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the child was stabbed with an 8-inch steak knife just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday at home. Detectives were still investigating how the boy was wounded, whether accidentally or on purpose, Reder said. Officials did not release the name of the injured boy, who is expected to recover.
