Video Game reviewsBy ROBB GUIDO © St. Petersburg Times, published February 26, 2001 Racin' RatzSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: Mattel Interactive PRICE: $29.99 Racin' Ratz takes players on a remote-control car ride through a full-size house. The object is to collect items by using one power-up after another, such as a spring that makes cars leap into the air or traction that lets cars climb walls. It's novel and fun. Grade: B+ Little NickySYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: Ubi Soft PRICE: $29.99 Nicky is an above-average platformer with good graphics. The story is taken from the movie, which adds a lot of humor to this one. Grade: C+ Micro MachinesSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: THQ PRICE: $29.99 Small cars, boats and tanks race around tracks littered with cards and SpaghettiO's in this mildly fun game. There are quite a few levels and even a multiplayer mode, in case some friends want to join in. Grade: C+ F1 Championship Season 2000SYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: EASports PRICE: $49.99 F1 Championship Season 2000 takes Formula 1 racing to the next level with polished graphics that don't pop up and disappear in the distance. The 22-member pit stops also show off the system's power, but this niche title is fun only for fans. Grade: C+ Evil Dead: Hail to the KingSYSTEM: Dreamcast MAKER: THQ PRICE: $49.99 The movie was bad enough, but the game is far worse. Even improved visuals (from the PlayStation version) can't save this Resident Evil clone. Grade: F Evil Dead: Hail to the KingSYSTEM: PlayStation MAKER: THQ PRICE: $39.99 The PlayStation version is just as bad as the Dreamcast version. Kill monster after monster and run around. Hey, sounds like a horror flick. Grade: F * * * - Robb Guido is an avid gamer who lives in Tampa.
