After 148 regular-season matches and more than 10 years, the Seminole girls tennis team finally has been defeated.

Countryside did the honor decisively, beating the Warhawks 7-0 on Monday.

"The streak is over at 148, and we'll start a new one," said Seminole coach Rich Lally, whose team dropped to 2-1 this season. "Ten years and two matches, that's pretty good."

With a lineup comprised of two freshmen, two sophomores and a junior, many suspected this would be the year the streak ended. Countryside improved to 3-1.

"We got beat good by a real good team," Lally said. "The kids were fine (afterward). Countryside is just a better team, and they proved it."
