Police reportsBy Times staff reports © St. Petersburg Times, published February 28, 2001 Pedestrian from Wisconsin struck by car, injuredA pedestrian hit by a car was listed in good condition Tuesday after being flown to a Tampa area hospital. A Wisconsin man was walking east on Gibralter Street about 8 a.m. when another driver, who said he was blinded by the sun, ran into him, a Hernando County sheriff's report said. The pedestrian, Tom Theder, 58, of Watertown, Wis., rolled over the front of the car, broke its windshield and was later flown to Bayfront Medical Center. The driver, Peter Sohron, 85, of 8499 Gibralter St., was not cited. Man sentenced to prison for injuring two officersA Brooksville man was sentenced to five years in prison Monday after pleading no contest to charges he injured two police officers. Desmond Outlaw, 24, of 750 Lemon Ave. in Brooksville was found guilty by Circuit Judge Jack Springstead of two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and one count of resisting arrest. In May, police were searching for Outlaw with a warrant for his arrest on violation of probation charges. While trying to run from police at the Super Save Food Store, 1200 E Jefferson St., Outlaw knocked down one officer, dislocating his knee. Another officer sprained his knee while chasing Outlaw. Woman faces charges in fight with another womanA woman faces assault and battery charges after officials say she tried to stab another woman with a knife. Doris Mobley, 44, of 814 Shayne St. in Brooksville was arrested Monday, about a month after she got into a fight with another woman on Twigg Street and, after punching and biting her, pulled out a switchblade, a sheriff's report said. The other woman, Naedda Kelly of Brooksville, was able to get away. After investigating the incident, officials arrested Mobley on a warrant for aggravated assault and battery. Mobley was released from the Hernando County Jail on Tuesday without having to post bail. Blaze in mobile home causes $15,000 in damageBrooksville firefighters were able to save a mobile home that burst into flames Tuesday morning. Officials said that an electrical problem in the home's air conditioning unit likely started the fire at 4251 Tipperary Lane in the Clover Leaf Farms community. The trailer sustained $15,000 in damage, but no one was hurt.
