Brad Pitt's other movie opens
Brad Pitt should have stuck around St. Petersburg after his Ocean's 11 gig. We'd throw a party for the release of his new film, The Mexican. But, nooooo, he'd rather go back to L.A. and celebrate with his co-star, Julia Roberts, both above, and other celebrities. At least he could've arranged a screening early enough for Weekend review. Check Friday's Floridian section for the lowdown. The Mexican concerns a star-crossed mob gofer (Pitt) sent to retrieve an antique pistol called "The Mexican." Roberts plays his girlfriend, who isn't happy about the job, especially when she's kidnapped by a hit man (James Gandolfini). Directed by Gore Verbinski, who previously surprised viewers with the charming dark comedy, Mouse Hunt.
